Seedz Café (and its sister shop on the corner, Haché Herbal Infusions) sits nestled in the quiet, pedestrian-friendly DeMun neighborhood just one block west of Forest Park in Clayton, Missouri. Take your pick from their made-from-scratch, 100% vegan menu and enjoy the leafy patio seating, or dine in the cozy dining room featuring natural wood, marble accents, splashes of color and plenty of green.

Owner Rick, Vanessa and their wonderful crew took over both locations in 2024 and have rejuvenated the space and the menu. The completely plant-based menu really does have something for everyone: hearty sandwiches like their tempeh Reubens and homemade burgers, flavor-packed bowls like the Vandovan (spiced lentils, masala sweet potatoes, cashew yogurt), lighter salads and sides, and their always popular pizzas.

Seedz earns high marks in sourcing – more than half their menu certified-Organic products. Most everything including desserts are in house. The new owners were careful to reuse and donate the existing equipment, and most newer appliances in their all-electric kitchen are EnergyStar rated. Seedz was the first restaurant in town to partner with Too Good To Go, a nationwide organization with an app that connects customers with surplus, discounted food from various retailers.

Demun is lively neighborhood: within the block there’s a candy store, ice cream parlor, yoga studio and more. Stop in for a pastry, tea, coffee or fresh-squeezed juice at Haché in the morning, learn some martial arts at the Judo academy in between, then head over to the Café for a nutrition-packed lunch; try acupuncture or a well-earned massage on the way home.

Seedz’ five-star debut as a 100% plant-based member of the Green Dining Alliance is a great way to kickstart the developing Green Dining District in Clayton.
