KALDI’S COFFEE – DEMUN has been ahead of the sustainability curve since 1994. They have always had an all-vegetarian menu (lowering their environmental impact due to the amount of resources that goes into raising, producing, packaging, and shipping meat), and they have innovative, socially sustainable methods for procuring their coffee beans with their “relationship coffee” program. Their all-vegetarian menu features delicious veggie chorizo, veggie burgers, tasty egg sandwiches, burritos, and a variety of baked goods – including vegan muffins!

Kaldi’s is working to reduce their environmental footprint – they have moved to mostly compostable to-go ware (including cutlery), and they reduce their carbon footprint with motion sensor lights and by using mostly LEDs throughout their restaurant.

Kaldi’s on DeMun prides itself on the bike-ability of their location, which is a few short blocks from Forest Park. They provide bike racks to lock up, and they participate in Bike to Work day by giving out coffee and breakfast to re-fuel hungry bikers who might be commuting to work on two wheels for the very first time!
