GEZELLIG TAP HOUSE & BOTTLESHOP is one of the most sustainable bars in town, offering 28 beers on tap (the most sustainable way to drink beer) and hundreds of bottles and cans, with an average of 140 local beers available!

Gezellig, along with their neighbor, Pie Guy Pizza, have an incredible 99% diversion rate – meaning they avoid sending almost everything to the landfill through impressive strategies like composting and clever use of reusable glassware for beverages, including water.

They phased out straws from their operations, and don’t use unnecessary garnishes for their drinks, minimizing their waste. They never use trash bags in their recycling bins, keeping one of the most notorious contaminates out of single-stream bins, and they never use plastic to-go bags for their packaged beer. In fact, they reuse old beer boxes for customers who buy multiple items, reusing recyclable items before they are sent to the recycling facility. Even old beer is given new life at Gezellig, as they donate skunked and expired booze to a friend, who uses it to practice making moonshine!

Their decor is nearly entirely repurposed, with wall hangings from Refab, a bar façade they built themselves from old whiskey barrels, and tables made from reclaimed wood. Gezellig works to reduce energy use with their skylight, energy efficient windows and high efficiency HVAC system, keeping their emissions low and lowering their electric bills.

They sponsor bike-friendly events like Ride Your Bike to Work Day and offer bike racks out front, encouraging customers to take active transportation to their shop! Bike by for a draft beer, grab a slice next door, and take a specialty beer to-go!
