VIN DE SET serves French cuisine with local, fresh ingredients, including greens, herbs, microgreens, and tomatoes from their own urban farm greenhouse. They have a special relationship with Good Life Growing, an urban farm on the North Side. Good Life Growing reserves raised beds to accommodate Vin De Set’s seasonal menu and supplement the greens they grow on their own farm, located across the street from the restaurant, and their Hamilton Farms greenhouse, located next door to Charleville Brewing Company. They keep their own urban chickens in a coop built from repurposed material, and use the eggs in specials in the restaurant.

The restaurant is decorated with recycled pieces of its own building – the host stand is built with salvaged wood and shingles from its old roof. Pictures of the renovation adorn the walls, connecting the past and present in a way that reflects the timeless food they serve.

Vin de Set’s commitment to the environment is evident throughout their practices: they compost all organic materials, they donate to Ameren’s Pure Power incentive to research alternative energy, and they provide plenty of bicycle racks to promote alternative transportation.

With its seasonally focused foods, locally crafted cheeses, separate vegan menu, rooftop patio, and gorgeous dining rooms, Vin de Set is designed to impress both the discerning diner and the environmental eater.
