Take Me Here Using Metro Transit

Turn is a very unique restaurant experience placed in the Grand Center Arts District and housed in the .Zack building. Turn is specially curated by owner and chef, David Kirkland, to reflect his love of food, music, and specifically vinyl records. The décor includes a wall display of vinyl record covers, which changes each month in conjunction with his “Soulful Turn” series. During this series, Chef Dave presents a specially curated menu (with an “A Side” and “B Side”) with new, limited time only items. Turn provides an ever-changing experience at Turn.

Dave puts a lot of thought and care into sourcing his food for Turn. He sources many of his specialty produce including kale, greens, radishes, ferns, zucchini, onions, mushrooms and more from Urban Harvest, Bollen Farms, and Ozark Forest Mushrooms. Much of the dairy used in Turn is sourced from Farm River and Marcoot Jersey Creamery. In addition, Dave makes sure to include organic, grass-fed, pastured-raised, and/or hormone-free food in his production. He uses his buying power as a restaurant owner to encourage major food sourcing companies to offer healthier and more sustainable options to other restaurants and businesses.

Being housed in .Zack gives Turn an advantage in conversing water. No problem goes unsolved in an efficient amount of time thanks to the facility maintenance staff for .Zack. They conserve water by maintaining broken or malfunctioning fixtures, having automatic faucets affixed with aerators and having dual flush toilets in their restrooms. In addition, Turn saves water by enforcing a policy of thawing food in their refrigerator and not with water.

Turn also puts in the effort to reduce food waste. Their menu options are always weighed and portioned to accommodate each customer without any food being thrown out. Chef Dave pays great attention to the amount of food coming back to the kitchen and uses as a way to determine how to portion out food in the future. Even if a customer has food left over and wants to take it with them, they can take it home in a reusable plastic or a compostable container.

The next time you’re going to a show at the Fox or Powell Symphony, visit Turn for an amazing pre-show dinner!
