The Fattened Caf – WashU
GDA Rating:

Take Me Here Using Metro Transit

The Fattened Caf at Washington University’s Bytes Cafe is a Filipino-inspired restaurant featuring the rich, bold flavors of Filipino BBQ and street food. After successful pop-ups around town, owners Darren and Charlene Young wanted to share their love for Filipino cuisine with the students at WashU, especially their signature pork belly and sausage dishes.

Their menu emphasizes the sweet, salty, and umami flavors typical of Filipino cuisine. Try a rice bowl with barbecued chicken, pork belly sisig, or brisket topped with pickled slaw and cucumbers. They source pastries locally from Liz’s Filipino Food and Deserts in St. Peters, MO and pork from Williams Brothers in Washington, MO. Their famous chicken longganisa (Filipino sausage) is made from scratch at their Benton Park location. Vegans and vegetarians must try the jackfruit Adobo.

The Fattened Caf composts back-of-house and customer food waste and makes fresh juice in-house in an efficient, all-electric kitchen. Go visit their little corner of the LEED certified Mckelvey Hall on the Danforth Campus next time you’re in the area.
