1. Scoring
Scoring
At the Green Dining Alliance, we approach sustainable business practices holistically – meaning, we assess all aspects of sustainability, not just a few.
So what does a restaurant’s score mean? How do stars get assigned?
In addition to their overall star rating, every restaurant on the GDA’s website has their score broken down by section for you. For example: if you’re looking for a restaurant that pays close attention to serving local, organic produce and grass-fed meats, check their ‘Sourcing’ stars.
Here is a walk-through for finding the scoring breakdown. The green hand will help point you in the right direction:
From the homepage: click on the link “Find a Restaurant” to see our dining list.
Now that you’re scanning over the dining list, notice the More[ + ] function below the restaurant’s green star rating.
Here’s a close-up:
Once you’ve clicked on More[ + ], you can take an in-depth look at each restaurant.
Sustainability ‘Review’
If you’re interested in a restaurant’s personal sustainability story, read the articles we put together for each restaurant we certify. We highlight the unique choices and practices that make them green.
Custom Searching
You can also use our search function in the top right corner of the website to search for key words, narrowing your dining search. Looking for a meal in a particular neighborhood? Or perhaps you’re planning your first date with someone who happens to be vegan – where to go? Maybe you’re itching for a local coffeehouse in walking distance.
Search with our custom tags, by location or cuisine.
