As we lead up to Earth Day Festival, we’ve got great news to share at the Green Dining Alliance as we’ve seen a flurry of activity recently. Several restaurants in the St. Louis region have gone through our GDA Restaurant Sustainability Audit, and we have more audits coming up soon! (Stay tuned for a blog post that describes our audit process in more depth; if you want a sneak peek, go ahead and check out our audit questionnaire.)
Who is in the pipeline to becoming a GDA Certified Member?
While we have a few more t’s to cross and i’s to dot before publishing official ratings, the restaurants that have recently undergone our rigorous audit process are:
- Mangia Italiana (South Grand)
- Gelateria del Leone (South Grand)
- Local Harvest Café – all three locations:
- Tower Grove South
- Downtown St. Louis (Old Post Office)
- Kirkwood
- Atomic Cowboy (The Grove)
- I Scream Cakes (Cherokee)
- Season’s Café (Alberici Headquarters)
There are several more interested restaurants who we’re working with to conduct audits in the very near future:
- Kakao Chocolate – two locations:
- South Jefferson at Shenandoah
- Maplewood
- Whisk Bakery (Cherokee)
- The Libertine (Clayton)
- The Royale (South City)
- The Civil Life Brewing Co. (South City)
Don’t all those names of great places for good eats make you smile?
We’re grinning from ear to ear! It is obvious there are so many restaurants and food purveyors throughout St. Louis who are paying close attention to their business practices from the perspective of sustainability and reducing their impact on Mother Earth. We are delighted to be working with each and every one of them!
