Michele C Catering is a “community conscious sustainable” catering service run by Michele Coen, owner of the beloved burger joint The Dam. Her catering business runs out of The Krangberg Arts Foundation award winning Dark Room inside the Grandel as its commissary kitchen. Michele also runs the food program at the Dark Room, a fun jazz and art themed bistro.

Michele C Catering offers a variety of food options and makes their menu options flexible to accommodate guests with dietary needs and restrictions which include vegan and vegetarian items. The offerings include BBQ tofu, roasted eggplant, roasted mozzarella skewers, and homemade seasonal hummus. In addition, they source many of their foods through farms like Long Acre and Ozark Forest Mushrooms. Their dishes include Amish chicken, sausages packed in-house, and cheese from Fox River. For their sandwiches (including vegan and vegetarian options), Michele C Catering uses bread from Fazio’s and Companion. Their drink service includes local beers from Urban Chestnut, 4 Hands, and Schlafly, as well as, coffee from Kaldi’s and their seasonal infused waters like strawberry basil and cucumber. You can also enjoy an offering of desserts like their in-house made brownies, cookies, tartlets, tiramisu, and chocolates sourced from GDA-certified Kakao.

To emphasize their sustainable catering mission, Michele C Catering works to provide the best service with the least waste. Starting in the back of house, Michele C composts food scraps from their kitchen when preparing orders and uses leftovers from events for new menu items in The Dam. The staff serves guests buffet-style with the intent to prevent food waste through portion control. Also, when they’re not using reusable dinnerware, they have compostable materials instead!
