CRUSHED RED prides itself for its environmental considerations, which have been part of the culture of their restaurants since the first store opened its doors. Crushed Red always composts food waste from customers and food scraps from their kitchen, putting healthy nutrients back into the soil instead of creating methane from the landfill.
Unlike most fast-casual restaurants, Crushed Red has reusable plates, glasses, ramekins, and even napkins for dine-in customers, reducing the amount of single-use waste that winds up in landfills or as litter. They use post-consumer paper to-go boxes when they do have to use disposable items, helping to support the recycling industry and prevent unnecessary deforestation. LED lighting, LED menu screens, and EnergyStar equipment help reduce their energy consumption.
Their food is never fried – it’s always fresh, chopped or baked to order, ensuring a healthy and convenient alternative to fast food. Both their Clayton and Kirkwood locations use certified organic dressings and Fair Trade, organic teas.
Stop by their gorgeous patio for lunch, and treat yourself to a Fitz’s Root Beer or one of the many local beers, like Schlafly, Civil Life, and Modern, on tap.
