ARCH CAFE is a restaurant located at the Gateway Arch National Park. As an establishment located in a national park and in a LEED-certified facility, they make an effort to reduce their impact on the environment through various means.

When it comes to food waste, Arch Café reduces and recycles as much as possible to prevent food from going to the landfill. They reduce food waste by portioning out food to ensure that they are not over-serving. For back-of-house and customer food waste, they use Total Organics Recycling to compost remaining scraps and waste. In addition, they only use compostable and recyclable to-go materials which customers are able to properly dispose of through the accessible compost and recycling bins.

Again, since Arch Café is located at the Gateway Arch, they are privy to the energy, water and money saving perks that comes with being in a high-efficiency building. Their light fixtures are affixed with LED bulbs, they have access to energy saving fixtures like bi-level switching and motion-sensor lighting, and they use a high-efficiency HVAC system. Plus, having a team whose main purpose is to maintain all of this allows for more effective and non-energy sucking appliances.

Lastly, you can stop by the café for some local and/or sustainable options like a cup of Mississippi Mud coffee mixed with some cream from Prairie Farms. You can even grab a sandwich which features bread from Fazio’s.

Next time you visit the Gateway Arch National Park, make sure to stop by Arch Café for a quick meal!
